Engineering is one of the primel fields of Engineering, always perennial in terms of the scope and the job prospects it offers. Electrical engineering seeks to develop new technologies which can contribute to society in many different and exciting ways. The roots of electrical engineering go back to the physical laws of electricity but today it is a very broad field with impact on a variety of interdisciplinary applications. It is the paramount of whole Engineering discipline. In today’s scenario, as Electronics is playing a salient role in the implementation and control of Electrical Machines, the course is amalgamated as Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

The discipline entail the study of Electrical Machines, Circuit Analysis, Electronics, Electromagnetics, Engineering Material Science, Instrumentation, Control Systems, Power System Engineering, Electrical machine design etc. The significance of Electrical Engineering can be well comprehended by exploring the scope of Electrical Engineers in manufacturing units, major private and public sector industries such as State Electricity Boards, Indian Railways, Armed Forces (Technical branch), Thermal and Nuclear Power Corporation, Design Industries, Production Plants and premier educational and research Institutions.

The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering of LMCST started its voyage in the year 2004 and has been successful in achieving excellence in the field of study with its dedicated staff members and well motivated group of students. The Department promises its continuous effort to nourish the academic as well as research capability of a student through class room coaching and innovative projects. With a group of well dedicated and qualified teachers in various areas of specialization such as Control Systems, Power Systems, Electrical Machines and Power Electronics, the Department offers the Bachelor Degree Program in Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Masters Degree Program in Control System Engineering. To nurture the research capability as well to make the students think beyond the walls of classrooms, the Department has well equipped laboratories such as Electrical Machines Lab, Power Systems lab, High Voltage Lab, Digital Lab, Power Electronics Lab, Electrical Measurements Lab and Software lab. For the continuous improvement of the teaching staff in the field of study, a well managed Department library functions well with large number of books in various disciplines.
