Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC)

Lourdes Matha College of Science and Technology

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of Lourdes Matha College of Science and Technology was established under the initiative of the Ministry of Education (MoE) through the MoE’s Innovation Cell (MIC), in collaboration with All India Council for Technical Education, to systematically foster a culture of innovation, creativity, entrepreneurship, and startup development among students and faculty members.

The IIC serves as a dedicated innovation platform within the institution, encouraging students to think creatively, identify real-world challenges, and develop innovative solutions with social and industrial impact. Through various innovation-driven initiatives, the council promotes ideation, design thinking, product development, intellectual property rights (IPR), entrepreneurship, and startup incubation activities.

At LMCST, the IIC plays a significant role in creating a vibrant innovation ecosystem by bridging the gap between academia and industry, nurturing entrepreneurial talent, and motivating students to transform their ideas into impactful projects and startup ventures. The council also facilitates interaction with entrepreneurs, mentors, investors, startups, and industry experts, providing students with valuable practical exposure and guidance.

The primary objective of the IIC is to empower young innovators and aspiring entrepreneurs by creating opportunities for collaboration, experimentation, skill development, and innovation-led learning within the campus community.

About IIC

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) is a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), Government of India, launched in 2018 to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs). The initiative aims to systematically build and strengthen innovation and startup ecosystems across educational institutions in the country.

The IIC framework encourages institutions to organize innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities in a structured and time-bound manner, enabling students and faculty members to actively participate in ideation, problem-solving, prototype development, startup activities, and technology innovation.

The council serves as a platform to nurture creative potential, encourage interdisciplinary collaboration, and create awareness about entrepreneurship, intellectual property rights, and emerging technologies. Through continuous engagement and innovation-focused programs, IIC helps institutions cultivate future innovators, startup founders, and technology leaders.
